Broughton Street Shopping
Downtown Savannah’s main shopping street. Ten shops in four groups — food gifts, home & antiques, clothing, art & local-made — plus one alternate. Park once, start at the west end, walk east. Not a directory.
How to do Broughton
- Park once: Whitaker Street Garage, 7 Whitaker St — underground, between Bay Lane and Bryan St. The City lists it as open 24/7, card only (AmEx, Discover, MasterCard, Visa; no cash). It’s the closest city garage to the middle of this list.
- Garage rates: TODO: two City pages disagree — check the posted rates at the entrance
- Other garages: State Street Garage, 100 E State St (Abercorn & State), for the east end. Robert E. Robinson Garage, 132 Montgomery St (York & Montgomery), for the far west end. TODO: Robinson card-only note may be stale (MasterCard/Visa only)
- Start at the west end (300 W) and walk east toward Bull. The early closers are on the west side: Kobo Gallery closes 5:30 PM daily; Chocolat closes 6 PM Mon–Sat and 4 PM Sunday. River Street Sweets (alternate, east end) is open until 10 PM Sun–Thu, 11 PM Fri–Sat. From Bull, Whitaker St leads back north to the garage.
- Suggested order: garage → Kobo (33 Barnard, on the way down Barnard) → Chocolat (300 W) → Nourish (200 W) → Savannah Taste, Savannah Bee, Element Tree (100 W) → Paris Market, Copper Penny, J. Parker (0 W) → cross Bull to Globe Shoe (0 E). Optional: River Street Sweets (0 E). Then back up Whitaker to the garage.
- Sunday: do the west end before 4 PM. Hot day: don’t leave chocolate in a parked car.
- Walk time: UNKNOWN — TODO: not measured; do not invent minutes
TODO: where the Whitaker garage’s pedestrian exits come up, and whether Barnard → Broughton is the easy first leg — on-foot check TODO: Whitaker garage repair work (approved Apr 2025) — current status UNKNOWN, on-foot check
